“Wacky” Cake

A cake made without milk or eggs and is still, moist, dark and delicious! It was invented in the great depression era when ingredients were expensive n scarce.



PrepTime 10mins – Serves 4-5 – CookTime 35mins.





1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
6 tablespoons vegetable oil

Cooking Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda, and cocoa together into an 8×8 inch ungreased cake pan.
3. Make three depressions. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third.
4. Pour water over all, and stir well with fork.
5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 mins, or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean.

Frost with your favorite icing, cream cheese-whipped cream mix and top off with nuts, fruits, etc.. Enjoy it in all its glorious softness n then, lets talk about why they call it “Wacky” cake.. hahaha
