Paneer Kababs/ Pakoras

Try this quick recipe for a paneer snack or appetizer – its like a pakora/bhajiya with some tempering – you can bake it for deep-fry it & serve with some hot-n-sweet tamrind chutney

PrepTime 2mins – Serves 4-5 – CookTime 20mins


1/2 kg Paneer slab cut into pieces (3″ long, 1″ wide & 1/2″ thick, approx)
1/2 cup gramflour/ besan
1/2 tsp chili pwd
1/2 tsp turmeric owd

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1-2 chopped green chillies
1/2 cup chopped onions
salt to taste
5 tbsp olive oil
oil for deep frying
1/2 tsp pepper pwd
1/4 tsp ajwain

Cooking Instructions

Marinade the paneer pieces in a batter of gramflour, chili pwd, turmeric pwd, ajwain, salt, pepper & some water (not too runny-watery) for 15-30 mins.
Heat oil & deepfry the pieces & set to drain on kitchen paper towels. Arrange the paneer on a serving plate
In a tempering pan, heat the olive oil & fry the fine onions to pink.
Then lower the heat & add the remaining ingredients.
When the tomatoes are done, pour this mixture over the paneer & serve with sauces/ chutneys of your choice.
